Vantec NST-375LX Nexstar LX

Pros: Cheap. Looks nice. (I got the black model.) Easy to set up.

Cons: Corrupts files, no confidence in this thing.

The Bottom Line: I need a file server that corrupts files about as much as a pig needs a butcher.

Review: Not satisfied with this device. 1) Copied 4 GB of data to this drive over USB interface, then compared the copies with the originals. Result: when comparing, about a dozen files had a different checksum than the original. Some of these were zip and ...

NexStar LX - Good external storage solution

Pros: EASY install/set up, GOOD docs, works right out of the box

Cons: No NTFS, Fan WAS *VERY* noisy, space is TIGHT, but adequate

The Bottom Line: GOOD NAS solution, better than ext USB drives because it's on the network not dependent on a PC

Review: The system where I store backups and archives failed. I needed SOME way to access the data on the 300GB drive that was there. Did not have time or inclination to troubleshoot the system, so elected to try Nexstar LX external enclosure. In use for about a ...
